Second generation owners, Matt and Nathan Hart, saw the Ocean Blaster for the first time at the Fabtech Show in Chicago a few years ago and fell in love. They knew that once they had finished building their new facility, an Ocean Blaster would immediately find a home in their shop.

Fast forward to present day: Matt and Nathan have completed construction on their new facility, the Ocean Blaster has been installed, and it is already exceeding their expectations.

As you can see from the images, their shop is super clean, and Matt attributes a lot of that to the Ocean Blaster cleaning the steel before any of his guys even touch it.

The team at Baxter fabricated their own cross-feed supports on both the in and out-feed sides of the Blaster. These supports create a good buffer zone on either end to reduce crane time. They also installed a jib crane on either end so they don’t tie up the overhead.

We love our ingenious and creative customers, and we learn from them every day!

K&J Steel – Washington, UT

A recent visit to a formidable structural and miscellaneous steel fabricator, K&J Steel, located in Washington, Utah, reveals that their Ocean BLASTER Shot Blast System, installed eight months ago, has had an immediate payback in several key areas of their business.

Owner Jared Bolander mentioned that prior to installing the Ocean Shot Blast System, they had seven men in the paint department with five manually cleaning steel. Now this department runs more efficiently with two men and the BLASTER cleaning the steel. The machine was a “no-brainer for our operation and the price was reasonable”.

Other benefits realized from its implementation include easier part and layout marking on “clean steel”, better adherence to paint specifications, faster turn-around of finished part profiles, and the shop associates’ satisfaction associated with pre-blasted steel. “Nobody wants to be manually cleaning steel outside during summer months here” Jared noted.

The sales model of the Plasma Robots, such as the Python X, Ficep, Voortman, Daito and others, relies on the seductive promise of having one machine do the work of multiple machines, essentially eliminating the need for a saw, drill line and a coper. While in reality this never actually materializes (witness our Saw, Drill and Angle Line sales to existing Plasma Coping Robot users), and there is one further aspect that is never mentioned in the plasma robot sales pitch.

And that is just how sloppy the cuts and copes become within a very short time. This means that instead of eliminating labor, the user often has to hire additional labor to grind and clean the dross and slop from the cuts.

This has propelled the Ocean Blaster into the limelight as it is the most economical and efficient blast cleaning machine on the market and makes quick work of automatically cleaning the dross from these plasma cut parts. Just take a look at the before and after photos below.

The Ocean Blaster Cleans Up behind Python-X and Plasma Robots

AFTER – The Ocean Blaster Cleans Up behind Python-X and Plasma Robots

The Ocean Blaster is a very compact, ruggedly built Shot Blaster featuring twin bucket elevators keeping the overall height so low that it can fit in any fab shop without the need for a pit. The hyper efficient turbines ensure that it has the lowest operating costs of all blasters on the market, and makes it the perfect machine for existing Python X and other Plasma Robot users to clean their steel.
